Your Disputes

Disputes can unfortunately arise when least expected: they are invariably stressful, time consuming and potentially costly. They can arise from almost all aspects of our lives. You can become involved in a dispute about your property or you may have bought something that is damaged or is not fit for purpose. You may feel that you have been let down by your builder or your bank or a third party has made comments about you which you think may have damaged your reputation. You will need to speak to an expert to assess whether you have a claim.

We have experience in dealing with all the above scenarios and many more: we deal with boundary disputes, building disputes, debt recovery, landlord and tenant, wills, trusts and inheritance disputes, possession claims and property disputes.

We have been advising individuals in dispute cases for many years. We act for claimants and for defendants and have successfully represented both in the range of different disputes. We always begin by taking details of the facts, considering the evidence and any other issues, such as time limits and provide preliminary advice as to whether you as a client should bring or defend a claim. We are experts in evaluating claims and clarifying the relevant issues. In each case we provide clear guidance and inform you of the potential cost implications. An important consideration in bringing or defending a dispute claim is how much it might cost: if you don’t succeed in a claim you either bring or defend you could be ordered the other side’s costs. We therefore appreciate that you need clear guidance in this area and again we have the expertise and experience to do this.

Not all disputes end up in court. In fact parties are encouraged to try and resolve their differences and settle disputes outside the court process and where it is appropriate we recommend you to do this. We use alternative methods of dispute resolution including negotiations with the other side, arbitration and mediation. Sometimes however proceedings are necessary and you may have to bring or defend a claim. Our lawyers are all well versed in dealing with cases in the various different courts and tribunals which include the county court and the high court: the court rules and procedure are complex and varied and can be a minefield.

Our lawyers are accessible, resolute, skilled and commercially aware: they will provide the clear, coherent and balanced advice that you need to determine how best to proceed and they will deal with your disputes cost effectively and with determination and focus.
